A memorandum on the implementation of the “Volunteer Project for Enhancing the Teaching of Korean Language and Culture” was signed between UzSWLU and KOICA.

On January 16, representatives of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) visited UzSWLU. During the visit, new projects on international cooperation between UzSWLU and KOICA, as well as the teaching of Korean language and culture, were discussed.

The KOICA delegation included Shin Myung Seop, the director of the KOICA office in Uzbekistan, So Wansu, deputy director of the office, Lee Yoobin, coordinator of the volunteer department, Rojiboev Ilkhomjon, coordinator of the volunteer department, Park Jun Hyung, intern at the volunteer department, Noh Yunmi, project manager, and Anvar Shomirzaev, local project manager. After the welcoming ceremony, a meeting was held between the two sides.

From UzDUT, Rector I.M. Tukhtasinov, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation A. Nasirov, Vice-Rector for Finance and Economics M. Hamraev, Head of the International Relations Department X. Yuldashev, and Dean of the Faculty of Eastern Philology D. Juraev participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, the implementation of the “Volunteer Project for Enhancing the Teaching of Korean Language and Culture” and other mutually beneficial issues were discussed. At the end of the meeting, a memorandum on the implementation of the project was signed between UzSWLU and KOICA.

Brief Information About KOICA’s Project:

The volunteer project for enhancing the teaching of the Korean language and culture.
Project duration: 2.5 years, from 2025 to 2027.
Project cost: 1,116,000 USD.
Of this amount, 300,000 USD will be allocated for equipping rooms at UzSWLU, changing the interior design, and covering some of the expenses required for the activities of the volunteers.
The remaining amount will cover costs such as attracting volunteers, their flight tickets and internal transport, accommodation, daily expenses, and monthly salaries, which will be paid by KOICA.
Within the framework of the project, 70 volunteers will be sent to UzSWLU over 2.5 years.
Volunteers will teach Korean language, organize cultural and artistic events, and manage extracurricular activities such as Taekwondo, K-ror (traditional dance), calligraphy, and music.
