UzSWLU Students at Tbilisi State University in Georgia

As previously reported, 10 students selected from the Faculty of Translation Studies of the Uzbekistan State University of World Languages are participating in the “Georgian Language and Culture” Certificate Program, supported by the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia.

The program is organized by Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. The students of UzSWLU participated in the initial online stage of the program from July 27 to August 14, 2026. Following a successful selection process, 10 students arrived in Tbilisi on August 17 to participate in the practical stage of the program under the supervision of faculty member Farida Ne’matova.

These days, the students are actively participating in theoretical and practical classes conducted by qualified professors and instructors of Tbilisi State University.

In particular, during a session conducted by university instructor Nino Sharashenidze, the students strengthened their knowledge of the grammatical structure of the Georgian language, its basic rules, and its use in everyday communication. Practical assignments helped develop their ability to use new vocabulary and grammatical structures, as well as their communication skills in Georgian.

Another session was conducted by university instructor Ekaterine Pirtskhalava. The students were introduced to the etiquette and behavioral norms that should be observed while studying abroad, cultural differences between Uzbekistan and Georgia, local traditions and values, as well as important aspects to consider when living in Tbilisi as a student.

The sessions also place particular emphasis on intercultural communication, adapting to different cultural environments, and responding appropriately to situations that may arise in everyday life.

In addition, professors Ekaterine Pirtskhalava, Nino Sharashenidze, and Emil Avdaliani are conducting classes on topics including the Georgian language, the Great Silk Road, and tourism in Georgia.

Classes within the program will continue until September 4. From September 5 to 7, excursions to Georgia’s historical cities and places of interest are planned for the students.

This international program provides UzSWLU students with an opportunity to learn Georgian directly in a language environment, gain a deeper understanding of Georgia’s history and culture, develop intercultural communication skills, and gain international educational experience.

It should be noted that all expenses related to the students’ and accompanying instructor’s stay, education, and accommodation in Georgia are covered by Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.
