On January 28, a delegation from Uzbekistan State World Languages University (USWLU) paid a visit to the American University of Technology (AUT) located in Tashkent.
The meeting was attended by USWLU Rector I. Tukhtasinov, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation A. Nasirov, and Head of the International Rankings Office B. Nishanaliev. On behalf of AUT, the guests were welcomed by the University’s Founder and Rector, Professor Said Irandust, Faculty Dean Professor Barbara Igel, and Executive Dean Professor Khalid Mia.
The main purpose of the visit was to thoroughly discuss cooperation proposals put forward during the meeting held at USWLU on January 12, 2026, to establish academic and scientific collaboration between the higher education institutions, and to sign a Memorandum of Understanding.
Following the negotiations, the parties reached agreements in the following areas:

Implementation of joint educational and academic programs in the MA TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) master’s degree program;

Organization of professional development, academic exchange, and internship programs for faculty members and students;

Launching internship and traineeship programs for USWLU students at the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Laboratory of AUT;

Joint training of professional translators.
In his speech, AUT Founder and Rector Said Irandust emphasized the university’s readiness to expand cooperation with higher education institutions of Uzbekistan, to exchange experience in integrating modern pedagogical, information and communication technologies, as well as artificial intelligence into the educational process, and to support USWLU in training qualified translators.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the leadership of AUT and USWLU. It was also agreed to establish a working group and develop a Roadmap for cooperation to ensure the practical implementation of the agreements reached.
As part of the visit, the USWLU delegation familiarized themselves with AUT’s material and technical facilities, including modern classrooms, scientific and innovative laboratories, information technology and artificial intelligence laboratories, as well as the conditions created for students.
This visit and the signed Memorandum play an important role in elevating the strategic partnership between the two universities to a new level, introducing innovative approaches into the educational process, and creating new academic and research opportunities for students and faculty members.
