A Meeting with Simultaneous Interpreters Held at Uzbekistan State World Languages University

Today, a meeting with simultaneous interpreters and master’s students in translation studies was held at Uzbekistan State World Languages University. The event was attended by the Rector of the University, Tukhtasinov, and the Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, A. Nosirov.

During the meeting, issues related to the development of simultaneous interpretation training, the establishment of modern audio booths and translation laboratories, optimization of student enrollment, and the introduction of curricula from leading universities worldwide were discussed. Opportunities for young faculty members and master’s students to undertake 6-month or 1-year internships and professional development programs at universities in the United Kingdom and other foreign countries were also considered.

Within the framework of the meeting, initiatives to establish a retraining center for simultaneous interpreters under the Network Center for Professional Development and to introduce a national certification system in the field of translation were supported. Interpreters and master’s students shared their opinions and suggestions. The event became an important practical dialogue aimed at strengthening the training of professional personnel in the field of simultaneous interpretation.
