On December 15, 2025, a meeting was held within the framework of the international project “Promoting inclusiveness through gender-aware pedagogy in second-language writing assessment”, implemented in cooperation between the Uzbekistan State World Languages University and the University of Leeds (United Kingdom).
The meeting was attended by the Rector of UzSWLU, I.M. Tokhtasinov, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation O. Yusupov, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation A. Nasirov, Head of the Department of Research, Innovation and Training of Academic Staff K. Muradkasimova, Head of the International Cooperation Department X. Yuldashev, as well as representatives of the University of Leeds — Professor Diana Pecorari and Professor McCray.
At the beginning of the meeting, the guests were provided with detailed information about the university’s activities, educational process, and available opportunities. Rector I.M. Tokhtasinov emphasized the university’s openness to cooperation in various fields and spoke about the prospects of academic and pedagogical activities and international projects. The participants also discussed future plans within the project, expected outcomes, and ways to further strengthen cooperation between the two universities.
The meeting was held in a productive manner and laid the groundwork for the development of academic and pedagogical exchanges between the parties.
For reference: the main objective of the project “Promoting inclusiveness through gender-aware pedagogy in second-language writing assessment” is to foster stronger cooperation with universities in Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan and to contribute to sustainable changes in the field of English language teacher education (PRESETT).
In particular, the project aims to develop teachers’ feedback practices in assessing students’ writing skills in English as a second language, taking gender equality issues into account.
