UzSWLU Faculty Members to Participate in an International Training Program at Beijing Foreign Studies University
From December 22 to 29 of this year, 21 faculty members of the Uzbekistan State World Languages University will take part in a short-term international training program entitled “Developing Teaching Technologies in the Era of Globalization”, to be held at Beijing Foreign Studies University of the People’s Republic of China.
The training will involve professors and lecturers from the Faculties of Translation Studies, International Journalism, and English Language Faculties 1 and 2. Within the one-week program, participants will attend lectures and practical sessions on higher education digitalization strategies, advanced teaching concepts in the era of smart technologies, and current development trends in education.
During the training, issues such as digital learning design, development of key competencies, creation of international online courses (MOOCs), and organization of intercultural collaborative learning will be explored. In addition, visits to the Online Education Center of Tsinghua University and the Faculty of Education at Peking University will provide participants with opportunities to learn about best practices in implementing MOOC platforms and “smart campuses” at leading Chinese universities.
The program also includes visits to a leading artificial intelligence laboratory and a linguistic research center, where trainings will be conducted on AI-based speech tutors, smart classrooms, automated assessment systems, and modern technologies used to evaluate language proficiency levels.
Prior to the trip, the Rector of the Uzbekistan State World Languages University, Ilkhomjon Tuxtasinov, held a meeting with the participating faculty members, emphasizing the importance of the international training and the need to effectively integrate the acquired knowledge and experience into the educational process.
This international training program aims to enhance the digital pedagogical competencies of faculty members, adopt advanced foreign experience, and further improve the quality of education at the university.
